Reasons Why My Car’s AC Is Blowing Hot Air

It does you no good to have hot air blowing through the vents when you turn on your automobile’s AC. If it has been a long time since you’ve had your AC serviced, Miller Brothers Auto Repair explains that the problem might be one of the following issues listed below.

Clogged Condenser

Because of where it is located, it’s easy for the air conditioner’s condenser to get clogged. The condenser is found directly behind your automobile’s grille. As such, it gets a lot of dirt blowing on it. If the condenser is clogged, it cannot cool the refrigerant properly and, consequently, you won’t get any cold air blowing through your vents. Larger road debris that makes its way through the grille can also damage your AC’s condenser and cause it to malfunction.

Dead Compressor

The compressor is an air conditioner part that likes to run a lot. In fact, running your air conditioner for 15 minutes every month keeps the compressor in shape. If you haven’t run your vehicle’s air conditioner for a long time, it’s possible that the compressor has died. You won’t get cold air if this part is malfunctioning or dead. We can inspect your compressor and replace it if it needs it.

Electrical Problems

If nothing happens when you press the button to turn on your vehicle’s air conditioner, you may have an electrical problem in the system. It’s also possible that you have blown the air conditioner’s fuse. If there is an issue with the wiring or another electrical problem, your air conditioner may not turn on at all.

Fan Problems

Perhaps the AC turns on but you don’t get any air flowing through the vents. This signals that there is a problem with the air conditioner’s fans. The issue could be attributed to an electrical system problem or it may be complications with the fans themselves. Either way, without the fans, you won’t feel any cold and refreshing air blowing through the vents.

Low Refrigerant

Finally, the most common reason why the AC blows hot air is low refrigerant. Again, if it’s been several years since you’ve had your vehicle’s air conditioner serviced, it’s possible that the refrigerant level is too low and this is why you have hot air blowing through the vents.

You needn’t worry. Miller Brothers Auto Repair in Somerset, WI, can inspect your vehicle’s air conditioner to find out why it is blowing hot air. Once we find the problem, we will fix it.
